In March 2019 a small team made their way to Qudsaya in the suburbs of Damascus. The construction of the 750 m2 skatepark was only possible thanks to SOS children villages and the amazing locals who got involved. Together we brought to life the first skatepark of Syria – Qudsaya Skatepark.
Still growing after the war, the city is one of the most populated in the region. Thousands of families have ended up in Qudsaya and the city holds an extremely high number of children. Therefore this location was ideal for building a skatepark that provides the youth with a safe and welcoming place for self-development and fun.
The funding of the project was provided by SOS children villages and Skate-aid. Volunteer-led skate programs are held at Qudsaya Skatepark with free access to skateboards for everyone.
